Be Intentional

November 9, 2016

Take a deep breath. Do you smell it? AHHH, spring is in the air! God surely did an awesome work when He created the rebirth of flowers and trees in Virginia.

Spring, like the New Year, is a great time to renew yourself, reassess where you are headed, and take inventory of your life and actions. Make sure those actions are taking you down your intended path. There is a big difference between intentions and intentional. Most people intend to work hard, retire, grow old, and ride the golden chariot to glory. We get there by being intentional in how we live, and what we do in the days leading up to that dream.

Great people used by God are just ordinary people with an extraordinary amount of determination. They simply don’t know how to give up when the going gets tough. Where do they find this kind of inner strength? It comes form a deep rooted belief that God is able to do exceedingly more than they can think or imagine.

Let’s take a moment to make some intentional steps down that path to that goal. Rethink your goals in terms of strength and not just the number on the scale or the size of your pants or a future accomplishment.

Strength comes in CANS not CAN’TS!

I CAN be strong because God has “Trained my hands for battle so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze. (Psalm 18:34) What battles, emotional, physical, or imagined, that stand in your way of reaching your goals? God has already promised to make you strong.

I CAN reduce/eliminate my medicines because, 3 John 1:2 “Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.” This prosperity in health is the greatest gift you can give to yourself and your family.

I CAN have energy to last all day long. Deuteronomy 30:20 “by loving the LORD your God, by obeying His voice, and by holding fast to Him; for this is your life and the length of your days, that you may live in the land which the LORD swore to give you.” HOW AWESOME IS THAT!!

This is YOUR year. This is THE year you take control of your health, your body and RENEW your strength!

You will end up someplace by design or default. Let the size of your God determine the size of your goal. While you are working on your goal, God is working on your character.

Here are 7 proven tips that will get you to your goals

  1. Drink water, drink water, drink water! Aim to drink half your body weight in ounces. Our bodies and brain are 75% water. Stay hydrated.

  2. Add one fruit or vegetable to each meal and try to eat 5 vegetables or more each day. Stick to no more than 3 fruits per day.

  3. Eat clean. If you cannot pronounce the ingredients… do not eat it. If it came out of the ground or had a mother, you can eat it.

  4. Limit your sugar intake. 4 grams of sugar = 1 teaspoon. That “healthy” protein bar might have 18 grams of sugar. That is 4 teaspoons of sugar!! Soda has 29 grams of sugar. That is 7 teaspoons of sugar! READ LABELS.

  5. Reduce / Eliminate wheat from your diet. Wheat causes inflammation in our bodies. Our joints, tissues, organs are all inflamed. Most of us have an intolerance or sensitivity to wheat. This too, is the underlying cause of our health problems. Begin to eliminate wheat and see a difference in your belly.

  6. Eat small and eat often. You must keep your metabolism burning all day. Our bodies were made to withstand famine. If you have no calories coming in, the body will think it is in starvation mode and it will hold onto every calorie for survival. It will not burn any calories because it needs all the energy from the calories to keep the heart beating, lungs working and organs functioning. But if you keep a regular amount of calories coming into the body, it will regularly burn them. Think of your body like a fire burning calories. Feed the fire with small kindling and small wood (clean food) all day long.

  7. Exercise 45 minutes at least 3 days a week
